Kahuana Charitable Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation. The Internal Revenue Service has ruled that the Kahuna Charitable Foundation is exempt from Federal Income Tax under section 501(c) 3 of the Internal Revenue code as an organization operating exclusively for charitable purposed.
When and why was Kahuna Charitable Foundation established?
Kahuna Charitable Foundation was incorporated in early 2005 by Frank Lunn, President and CEO of Kahuna Business Group. He started the Kahuna Charitable Foundation as a way to give back to St. Jude for saving his son Frankie’s life. Frankie was diagnosed with leukemia on March 28, 2002. During Frankie’s treatment at St. Jude, Frank witnessed the remarkable care given to Frankie, every patient and every family, and immediately recognized that St. Jude was a special place. It was a place of hope. Frankie received world-class care from the doctors and researchers at St. Jude, and remains in complete remission today. He is healthy and happy teenager who is realizing his dream of playing football.
What is Blessings In Adversity?
Blessings In Adversity (BIA) is our annual fundraising campaign with the main objective of raising national awareness for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in their work, success, needs and pioneering research in their mission of "Finding cures. Saving children.” The campaign goal is to raise $1 million (one day operating expenses for the hospital) during the month of September which coincides with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Is KCF directly affiliated with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital?
Kahuna Charitable Foundation is a proud corporate sponsor of St. Jude; however, we are not directly affiliated with the hospital or ALSAC (St. Jude fundraising arm). We support and believe in their mission of “Finding cures. Saving children.” and we believe in philanthropy grounded in leverage, value and partnership.
How does my donation help St. Jude?
St. Jude is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility in the world. Discoveries made there have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. The mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is to find cures for children with catastrophic illnesses through research and treatment. In recent years, St. Jude has made tremendous strides in the fight against childhood leukemia; today the cure rate is over 90 percent! The world’s best researchers and doctors are at St. Jude, they freely and willingly share their treatment protocols as their mission to eradicate diseases like childhood leukemia is a global one. All patients accepted for treatment at St. Jude are treated regardless of the family's ability to pay!
What is the relationship between Kahuna Charitable Foundation and Kahuna Empowerment, Inc.?
Kahuna Charitable Foundation was formed to add leverage, value and partnership along with accountability for the fundraising activities of Kahuna Empowerment, Inc. and all Kahuna Business Group’s subsidiary companies.
Is my donation to KCF tax deductible?
